5 Books That’ll Make You Feel Fantastic

This third lockdown sucks, doesn’t it?

We know how you feel. It’s really hard right now to stay positive, to keep those grey days at bay.

But do you know what makes us feel that little bit better, that little bit brighter?

Reading a really good book.

A book that gives you that positive mood boost you need, and very much deserve.

There’s nothing better than reading a book that makes you feel fantastic.

One that makes you feel on top of the world, that you could achieve anything.

One that, more importantly, will make you feel happier.

Have you ever had that? When you’ve read a book and just felt the stress melt away?

If not, you need to check out our blogpost on our favourite feel-good books.

It’s always great when your mind feels clearer, brighter, better.

We’ve spoken before about bibliotherapy and our favourite bibliotherapy books, about how you could theoretically read yourself happy.

How amazing would that be?

That’s why we want to expand on that list, to share some more books we know will add that extra spring to your step.

There’s something so empowering about taking life by the reigns (or in this case, the book pages) and making an active decision to change.

Change for the better.

So here are our top 5 favourite books that we’re sure will make you feel fantastic, especially during these grey days.

1. Mindfulness for Mums: Simple ways to help you and your family feel calm, connected and content by Izzy Judd

Being a mum can be exhausting.

We know it can be wonderful and thrilling and down-right amazing too, but feelings of anxiety, of exhaustion, of stress are also big parts of being a mum.

But don’t worry, this book is here to act as your wellness guide for when times feel too tough. With fun exercises for you, as well as for children of all ages, this will become a lifesaver of a book for those moments you feel overwhelmed.

2. The Goldfinch by Donna Tart

Often hailed as one of the more popular bibliotherapy books, The Goldfinch delves deep into those feelings of loss and belonging that we all experience at some point in our lives.

The Goldfinch is a compelling coming-of-age tale of Theo Decker, a 13-year-old boy who survives a terrorist bombing at an art centre (but, sadly, his mum does not). In the rubble, he finds a painting. A painting he becomes inexplicably attached to, named The Goldfinch. And so, his life of crime begins.

This is a book to lose yourself in, whilst gaining an outside perspective on your own feelings of where you belong in the very real world.

3. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying by Marie Kondo

A cluttered space is a cluttered mind. That’s how the phrase goes, right?

Marie Kondo is here to teach us to be ruthless in our cleaning methods, to declutter everything that doesn’t bring us joy.

If you bring order to your space, you’ll bring order to your life. Check out this phenomenal book for a bit of mental spring-cleaning.

4. Good Vibes, Good Life by Vex King

An Instagram sensation, Vex King is here to show you all about self-love and how to manifest all those positive vibes in your life.

If you change the way you think, feel and act, there’s nothing stopping you from making this world your own. No more fears, just good vibes, and a good life.

5. The Art of Stopping Time by Pedram Shojai

It can feel like in a moment, the day is over. Time moves at a mile a minute. And when the day is done, what do you have to show for it?

A to-do list with only half crossed off?

Tasks half complete?

A brain that’s frazzled?

If only there were more hours in the day. If only there was more time.

Pedram Shojai is here to stop that stressful cycle. To show us how we can capture time, and use it to our best ability.

More time, less stress, more success. What could be better than that?

What did you think of our list? I’m always thinking to myself that I could use more time in the day to do everything, so I can’t wait to read The Art of Stopping Time.
